There are a lot of mundane tasks to do and when you're living alone, you'll have to do them all yourself. I'm thinking of things like washing dishes, laundry, filing your taxes ,, etc. It is essential to complete these tasks in order to make your life more smoothly. But you don't have to be a slave to them and I'll just say that you get to decide quickly how long you *enjoy* the tasks you have to complete. This is an extension of the five-minute rule, which is covered in Stop Setting Traps For Yourself. There are more ways to manage your life and make it more efficient there. This is the way I'll guide you on how to get the most out of the timer application.
A 6 minute timer could be used in many ways. It can be used to give your child a gentle reminder that it is almost time to end an event. You can also use it to give your child a moment to think.
You can make your life simpler by using the app that all smartphone users have. As you could read in the name, it's the 2 minute timer app. Honestly I don't understand why people don't have it. It truly makes life much better, especially when you are doing things that you don't like doing. It's simple really, before you begin your task, determine the time you'll need, set the timer and basically the race begins. This race is fantastic due to three reasons.
Timers: Why they are crucial
1. Stop Procrastination
The problem with the majority of tasks that we hate doing is that we delay them. When you set an amount of time, you affirm to yourself that there will be an end to the ''waiting by the time the time runs out your task or a portion of your job is due to be completed. The mental burden of imagining yourself doing it all in the end is gone which makes it easier to get started and complete the task!
2. You're actively in training
If you can complete the task in say 10 minutes you will be able to recognize the best way to complete it to complete the task in time. You'll likely come up with new ways to complete your job and you'll be able to develop on both methods. This is the fastest way to accomplish your task. This doesn't mean you're reckless or lazy, it just implies that you're extremely efficient. The second reason that seeing that you managed to get the lengthy task done in the blink of an eye will make you not hate the task as much in the future. That is what I learned.
3. The euphoria of beating time
There is nothing quite like breaking the 30 second timer and giving yourself the time to be grateful for completing your tasks without having to feel annoyed with it. Personally, I am an athlete who crosses the finish line in the top of their best. Yes, I do mean that I am constantly striving to beat the time. It's important to have fun isn't it? If you keep setting the timer and sabotaging yourself then what's the point? Do not do that! Challenge yourself! Give yourself a minute to do it when you next do it, the adrenaline kick it'll give you will make you eager to join in and be successful at more than one level.
In reality, you need to complete your work done. Your life will go more smoothly and you'll thank yourself for it later. Instead of creating more instances where you're being rude to yourself for not doing it, or rushing to get something done because you have chosen to be having fun over doing the task, play yourself positively and enjoy the joy of continuously working to improve yourself. You can do it. I am confident in your abilities. Let me know what you think, tweet me or write me.
You're an absolute star for getting things done and being kind to yourself . So this is your award! You've earned it!
